Puppies and dogs in general are a staple in American civilizations, they come in so many shapes and sizes, colors and textures, and they each have their own personalities.  Dogs and puppies have been here since Christopher Columbus discovered America, and have served beside humans ever since.

Dogs are not just pets, there are dogs that do jobs everyday that keep everyone around safe.  There are dogs that sniff for things that may harm humans, there are dogs that service the handicapped, and keep them safe.  There are dogs that protect livestock that families use for their business.  There are even dogs that protect and serve along side police officers, and help them to sniff out illegal drugs, as well as go into places that would be unsafe for police to apprehend other people that the police are after.  People use dogs to guard our valuables, our houses, and to keep their families safe.

Us as people tend to look at our dogs as not just pets, but also as siblings, children, and other parts of the family.  People dress their dogs up in outfits because they feel like that's what the dog wants, which is fine I suppose.  We talk to our pets, confide in our pets, tell our pets secrets just like they were our best friends. 

People can teach dogs an endless number of tricks with enough patience.  You can teach them to roll over, lay down, sit, speak, play dead, get the newspaper, some can even be taught to get things you specifically ask for.  They can be taught almost anything, and all you need to give them to do all this is a treat, a pat on the head, and call them a good boy/girl.

Why are dogs so popular with people?  Is it because they would do anything for us in a drop of a hat.  They show people an undying loyalty that no other pet could.  Is it because dogs almost act as human as us, and more human than others.  There are many reasons why dogs are peoples best friends, they will do what you ask and expect nothing in return.  They will be by your side when no one else will.  They won't disrespect you, make fun of you, or let you down.  Be loyal to them and they will be loyal to you for life, that's as simple as it gets.
