Most modern day kitchens have backsplashes added in to prevent spilled liquids from falling behind cabinets. A backspalsh is and upright surface made of tile, granite, marble, glass, stainless steel and more that protects the wall behind a kitchens sink or stove to prevent it from getting water or any other types of liquids that are being used when cooking and cleaning. Backsplashes in kitchens are often seen behind sinks, stoves, ranges, and cook tops and they can range from very plain decorative styles to very elaborate decorative styles.

When using tiles the kitchen decorator can use creative colorful tiles, and paint techniques to help bring the kitchen to life. Tiles can be used in all sorts of different sizes, colors, and materials to help you design a kitchen backspalsh that will work best for your taste. Carefully measured and installed sections of back painted glass will produce a stunning kitchen backsplash in a contemporary style kitchen. Marble and granite backsplases work great in kitchens with rich wood cabinets and many other kitchen styles. Many kitchens use the same counter top material for there back splashes which is an excellent option for a no fuss kitchen back splash.

My kitchen was completely refinished about 4 years ago with granite tops, wood cabinets, and all stainless steel kitchen equipment. For my kitchen backsplashes I have 4 inch square tiles lined up all around my kitchen ranging from the back of the counter tops up to the start of the cabinets. I had a professional painter come in and add decorative paintings of flowers to some of the tiles which added a very unique style to my kitchen which I love every bit of. Having a clean protective kitchen is not only a great way to show off your kitchen, but it gives you a great feeling knowing that you love the way your kitchen looks.

A kitchen backsplash is not only a very decorative piece in most modern day kitchens, but they serve a very protective role in your kitchen. Even when cleaning dishes and cooking carefully your going to spill a lot of water and other liquids over time. If a kitchen was only bare dry way behind a sink and stove your dry wall would begin to rot over time causing a moist moldy kitchen environment. Kitchen backsplashes are all made of materials that deflect water and that cannot absorb the water making them perfect candidates for kitchen backsplashes.
